Is there a way to resize the right-click tapping zone/area in AppleTouch?
Posted by: UglyStuff - 08-25-2020, 08:38 AM - Forum: Other - No Replies

Hi everyone,

One of the (many) things I like about LL is that you get a right-click in the lower right corner of the (Appletouch) trackpad out of the box. That way, you don't have to chance a two-finger right-click that will fail, more often than not, and only scroll your page up or down.

Thing is, however practical, this feature needs some refinement on my aging (early 2006) MacBook Pro, because I think the tapping zone/area is too large, and I'll trigger a right-click even when all I want is, say, to left-click on the Like button in Twitter, and that's annoying.

Is there a way to resize the tapping zones/areas in Linux Lite?

How to deal with broken RTC (real time clock)
Posted by: minesheep - 08-24-2020, 09:32 PM - Forum: Other - No Replies

My computer has time and date going ahead even days. This started when I upgraded to LL 5.0 but It is now happening even with LL4.6. I understand I cant have time without internet and without hardware RTC. Bios battery have already being changed with no help. Since computers with no hw rtcs exist (raspberry pi for example) I wonder if it's possible to override hw rtc when internet is available.

Code:
linux  ~  sudo hwclock --get
hwclock: ioctl(RTC_RD_TIME) to /dev/rtc0 to read the time failed: Invalid argument
linux  ~
When that happens I have to enter time manually with time and date (preinstalled software) in order to access some websites.
sudo hwclock --get usually works but when it fails my computer loses time.

Walk me through a step-by-step way to enable hibernation on Lite 3.8 on Mac?
Posted by: UglyStuff - 08-24-2020, 03:42 PM - Forum: Start up and Shutdown - No Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm still struggling with Lite 3.8 (32-bit, because my early 2006 MacBook Pro has a Core Duo CPU that only accepts 32-bit OSes) startup, with the occasional black screen of nothingness that prompts for a force shutdown, or the unwanted reboot on every other startup (see here: https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/start...53405/#new).

To counter this until I find a viable solution, I'd like to use hibernation. On the Mac side of my MacBook Pro, it's pretty straightforward to set up, and very convenient, but on the Lite side, well...

I've read countless tutos here and there about how to do it, but there doesn't seem to be a mother of all recipes for my machine. Swap is set at 4GB (twice the installed RAM), so if the hibernation file is to be stored there, there's plenty of room to wriggle.

I'd really like to make this work, so please holler!

Blueman Applet not working, but bluetooth is switched on
Posted by: TheRoboticM - 08-24-2020, 10:44 AM - Forum: Network - Replies (1)

I am using Linux Lite/Ubuntu 18.04 and I recently faced a problem that my laptop's bluetooth was switching on but when I tried to use Blueman to switch it off, I was introduced with an error saying:

Code:
Failed to execute command "blueman-manager".
Failed to execute child process "blueman-manager" (No such file or directory)

Then I tried installing it but when I ran
Code:
sudo apt install blueman

I got this output:
Code:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
blueman is already the newest version (2.0.4-1ubuntu2).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

I guess this means it is installed but I cannot run the GUI nor can I see any indicator for it.

Please help.
Thanks!

  [FEEDBACK] Another First
Posted by: Artim - 08-23-2020, 05:26 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (1)

Installed LL 5.0 on a really old laptop today that hasn't been used for something like two years. It's the first time any distro in my experience has ever automatically detected and used the wifi hardware in that machine (Dell Latitude). I'm delighted to see the progress this distro is making!

Keyboard layout changes to US on boot
Posted by: Langley - 08-22-2020, 08:40 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (2)

I have a danish keyboard but for some stupid reason my ThinkPad T520 does not have the <>\ key (between Z and shift), so in order to write < and > I have added US keyboard layout, which I then change to whenever I need those characters. But after adding it, it always starts up with US keyboard layout on boot, instead of Danish. How do I make Danish default?

How to configure default audio profile
Posted by: Langley - 08-22-2020, 08:37 PM - Forum: Sound - Replies (1)

This is not a specific Linux Lite problem since it's the same on all distros. I am using my laptop with a docking station, and need the sound to go to HDMI 3, but it always defaults to HDMI 2 when starting up/redocking. I need to change it every time in the Pulseaudio volume control.

Is there a way to make it use HDMI 3 instead of 2? Perhaps remove HDMI 2 alltogether? Always forcing HDMI 3 is not an option since it needs to correctly revert back to internal speakers when undocked.
