MS Edge browser on LL 5

Amazingly gdebi listed all dependencies as satisfied for the new MS Edge browser for Linux. I've begun testing it now, and so far so good though I've never been a Chromium fan some of the old glitches seem to have been cleaned up other than the annoying keyring stuff. And yipee darn skipee I can purchase the source code for $5 American. It does have the nifty family safety feature for tracking your kids web browsing. Give it a star for that one. Also predictably it has the Chromecast extension available. The settings and tools are adequate and with a big screen the dev tools are okay too. Not too bad for a first round I guess.

Need some advice before install via Grub2Win on Lenovo laptop running Win Server

Hi everyone,
After successfully installing the latest (and last) 32-bit build on my 2006 MacBook Pro alongside Snow Leopard, I'd now like to install LL (latest 64-bit stable) on my Lenovo laptop, and I really, REALLY want to do it via Grub2Win because I don't want to have to rebuild my MBR if things go South with LL.
So far, I haven't done anything other than install Grub2Win (went without a hiccup).
I still have to partition the SSD on the laptop (got about 350GB of free space left on the Windows partition, so I've got room to wriggle); I haven't tried to boot from the USB stick where my LL copy is.
In your experience, is there anything I should really be cautious about, in terms of partitioning, before and during install? Any precautions I should take on the Windows side before I take the plunge?
Contrarily to the Mac, this laptop is my primary machine. I work on it every day, got Trados and Domino installed on it for my translation work, and every new install is a pain in the rear, license-wise, especially with Trados, and, as I said in preamble, I'd like to keep the hairy stuff to a minimum.

login screen blinking and GRUB

First of all, I'm just an amateur that likes a lot LL, but I don't really understand a lot of Linux systems. Second, I'm not an native english speaker (I will repost this in the spanish section, I did here to have some more range).
So, my issue is that before the login screen appears, I see a black screen and a cursor blinking. It blinks 3 to 10 times and then the login screen appears. I want to fix that.
Also, I want to get back the GRUB screen from LL, I have installed Windows after Linux, so I had to install a generic GRUB. I also have the LL GRUB in my desktop and love how it works.
Thanks a lot.

Seeking a very basic video editor

The Subject says what I want, a very basic video editor. I am NOT looking to do anything elaborate, probably ever. All I want to do is remove overly long beginnings and/or endings to videos that I have downloaded.
For example, I downloaded a pair of videos of concerts by a college music department. One has about 8 minutes at the end of the school's name and logo. The other has 10 minutes and 38 seconds in the beginning of the same and 7 minutes at the end. I just want to remove those dead minutes. If I could also cut dead spots, when the musicians change, that would be nice, but is not really needed at this time. Kdenlive, Openshot, and others are overkill for what I want to do.
Anyone have any suggestions for programs that you have used to do what I want?

LL 4.8 Freezing on Language Installation

I've gotten myself a new PNY SSD, so I decided to install a fresh LL 4.8 from scratch.
Installing was easy peasy and made me feel happy how fast the ssd experience for the first time.
The problem occurs after a clean fresh install, when I try to install other language (in this case Japanese) it freezes midway. I can move my mouse cursor but can't click on anything, also everything's froze aside from my ability to move the mouse cursor.
Is this normal and I just have to wait it out? It's been near an hour since I've posted this thread that I'm in this predicament.
My apologies for something that is probably easy to solve.
