Yes, but what sites. You can screenshot them instead of typing them if you like. I need to know the sites.

Most of the time its forums, or news sites. No heavy sites with lots of photos or things like that.

This is the average load with 12 tabs opening.
theo@Lenovo-B50-30:~$ uptime
 17:01:02 up  1:09,  1 user,  load average: 1,80, 0,84, 0,55

I dont have a clue what t can be. I uninstalled the update manager, noting. Compacted thunderbird database notting.
Memory passed test, so now going to have a look to see if the cpu is ok, starting to get a feeling that the old girl is running on 1 cylinder instead of 2

Menu>System>System Information>Devices>Processor
Would it show the cores even if it is not working, eg it shows the statistic/specs, or does it show it the cores live and only if working ?
Is there a way to test the cores, something like Memtest86 but for a cpu ?
Can it be fixed by the paste/ reseat cpu, or that would be the cpu inside itself and cannot be fixed ?

Edit  8) - https://askubuntu.com/questions/257248/how-can-i-see-how-many-processor-cores-are-working

Can you go to Menu>All>Firewall Configuration look under tabs Rules.
Is it blank/empty page ?

Edit -
I cannot look at that link at the moment.
Do you mean you downloaded the update manager and it is based on Linux Mint ?
It may be why it is not on the 3.4 in VirtualBox I used, as I only d/l the official etc, from Menu>Favorites>Install Updates

Edit 2 -
Ram is checked, do you have a sync tester, or a friend with it ?
Sync test - to stress the machines hardware and make the report of it, any faults.

Hello,

I have done fsearch for this script, and also looked manually some folders, I do not see this script on 3.2. It may be as you write for 3.4, you would need the staff to verify it.

I only have the one email in Thunderbird on LL.
I have also my personal Protonmail only using on web and phone, on the other computer I have the 5 email address, only 1 is mine for personal use (same 1 as LL).
I do the checking for others, it is one of my chores etc.
Also 2 of Gmail but not checking on desktop.  1 is mine for G+ and blogs, the other I only rarely check it for someone else when they ask me to do it for a time.
I don't use any checker, just manually.

I think I am out of ideas  :(
But I will continue to look and try to help solve it.

Edit -
I have just checked Linux Lite 3.4 64bit in VirtualBox, made all the latest updates, and turned on Lite Updates Notify.
I then searched using both Catfish, (it sadly doesn't have fsearch), and manually for this, Linux Mint Python script, and it is not found on LL 3.4 64 Bit.
It is also not showing in the Task Manager.

I have not installed slimjet browser, xfce mail watcher or the weather plugin.
Can someone else who is running slimjet browser open it and Thunderbird and look for this script in their task manager, and also do a search for it.
Can someone who is already running either or both of the weather plugin, and the xfce mail watcher, also check their task manager and do a search for this Linux Mint python script.
This will enable us to determine if any of these are the installer for it.
If nobody is using it, I will read about each and add them one at a time and check each time, I will need to do this tonight, but it is not any problem.

I am not running any virtual boxes or dual booting. Only thing installed on laptop is LL 3.4. So no idea what unattended updates from Linux Mint are doing on the laptop.

Yes i have the weather plugin installed and it runs in the background. But i have that all the time and thunderbird opened faster before even with the weather plugin running. It doesnt make any diference if i disable the weather plugin or not

The tick on the icon shield is to show that LL is up to date. Its from the Update Manager for Linux Lite 3.x Series. Got a feeling that this is why he unattended updates from Linux int are on my system.

The envelope is xfce mailwatch.

I also noticed no difference in opening of thunderbird after compacting the databases.
I got 2 inboxes in thunderbird..well actually 3 but one isnt checked anymore but that was a pop3 adres so left it in there so i still have the emails.

Hello TMG1961,

in your task manager it shows this -

Code: [Select]
python/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintUpdate/mintUpdate.py
I looked on Google about this, from the results it seems to be you are running "Unattended Updates" from Linux Mint" ?
Are you running Linux Lite in Virtual Box as a VM, or dual booting with Linux Mint ?

From the Panel it shows the Cloud Server icon, are you connected to the cloud server ? (weather plugin?)
Have you tried disconnecting this and using Thunderbird ?

The envelope icon, is it an automated email checking software /plugin that is running (maybe from browser if synced) ?

What is the tick on the shield icon, a firewall other than UFW ?

Edit -
synced - Thunderbird can be synced to a browser profiles (I've never used these), as both Thunderbird and your chosen browser are slow, it is why I asked about this setting in Thunderbird and the browser.

Edit2 -

This link discusses from your Task Manager "Tumblerd" and how it can resource hog to over 90% on cpu cores https://askubuntu.com/questions/89826/what-is-tumblerd/253908#253908

This link discusses how Tumblerd is used to display icons in place of using Thunar, and that it should be disabled by default, or removed - https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=41004

Other than the searches I have not info or experience of this.

Hi bitsnpcs,

I haven't compacted my database in thunderbird. I use IMAP, so not sure if i then still need to compact it. Did have a look at your link for copacting and have it set up.

I am not running any plugins or anti virus. Not sure what you mean by using it synced.

I will have a look at the links you profided me later today.

I have added a link to the sreenshot of task manager and resource usage. Doesnt say anything to me. Had 1 browser window with 1 tab open at that time.
