Just keep in mind that installing another desktop environment will also bring in the standard tools/apps from the desktop already installed. In some cases it could lead to problems with both desktop environments  due to conflicts between (system) packages of both desktop environments.

Before you get any "bad" advises, teel us first which desktop environment you want to install. There are different ways to install a desktop environment.
My laptop:

Any body here knows how to install a desktop environment. Well I know how to but I need to know how the lock screen will look like because I still want the default one installed.
