Another way to disable a touchpad is through Menu > Settings > Mouse and Touchpad.
On the Devices tab click the dropdown list, select your touchpad, then un-check Enable this device.

Linux-lite 2.8 I have a usb logtech mouse installed
configured with system mouse and touchpad
The touchpad continues to work
How do I turn it off
