Shotwell is indeed very powerful and not just an image viewer. Glad to hear you have found an app that fits your needs :)

Cheers!

Dear All,

My husband is still using linuxlite 2.2. It is freshly updated. He is taking screenshots and wishes to print them from imageviewer. We cannot find anyway to print
with imageviewer. There seems to be no option for printing. The imageviewer seems to be called ristretto 0.6.3.My linuxmint 17.3 cinnamon on my desktop  has imageviewer and prints from it just fine. Many more options are visible.

I, also have linuxlite 2.2 on my laptop with same issue.  I imagine installing the latest linuxlite would be the best, however,
no time for that for awhile. I would gladly use a different imageviewer that works, if I knew which one would print. We tried to use gimp but it did not print at all.

By the way, we both enjoy linuxlite. Very nice operating system. Thanks for your great efforts.

Suggestions welcome!

Thank you,

esoteric

Thank you Jerry and Ralphy,

Our printer is a canon pixma mg2920 and prints beautifully for us in every situation except the ones I mentioned. I think you are correct, Jerry, that I  need to look into the gimp printing to work that out.

Thank you, Ralphy, for the tip. I would have done what you suggested , but I already decided to install shotwell and use that which works great now. As far as I am concerned this is solved. :D

esoteric, Gimp not being able to print isn't related to Gimp but to the printer drivers (likely). You may want to check that out.

In regards to an Image View application that allows printing... this is one of the main features for me that I find it missing from almost every other distribution out there... sometimes simplicity in Linux goes way too far (Image Viewer applications in 2017 that don't feature printing - most of them don't :(  ). What I use myself is The GNOME image viewer (EOG - Eye of Gnome).

You can install it from Terminal as follows:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install eog

Hope that helps.

Mints imageviewer is not the same software as ours, so it will have different features. Is this a new printer? Does it show up in Menu, System, Printers? What make and model is the printer?
Also, thank you for your kind words :)
