Hi Mike,

I assume you've followed the link Wirezfree provided and did the necessary steps outlined there?
https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/installing-software/fix-for-google-chrome-on-linux-lite
The fix is necessary even if you don't have Google Chrome installed!

What is the output if you run the following in a terminal:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update

Is it the same for all three laptops?

  • CPU: Intel Pentium [email protected] (2cores) on an Asus X71Q

  • MEMORY: 4Gb

this seems to be a recurring problem for me too on three laptops that have Linux Lite in our household - been like that now for about a week now...

Mike
64bit OS (32-bit on Samsung netbook) installed in Legacy mode on MBR-formatted SSDs (except pi which uses a micro SDHC card):
2017 - Raspberry pi 3B (4cores) ~ [email protected] - LibreElec, used for upgrading our Samsung TV (excellent for the task)
2012 - Lenovo G580 2689 (2cores; 4threads] ~ [email protected] - LL3.8/Win8.1 dual-boot (LL working smoothly)
2011 - Samsung NP-N145 Plus (1core; 2threads) ~ Intel Atom [email protected] - LL 3.8 32-bit (64-bit too 'laggy')
2008 - Asus X71Q (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6/Win8.1 dual-boot, LL works fine with kernel 4.15
2007 - Dell Latitude D630 (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6, works well with kernel 4.4; 4.15 doesn't work

I did actually install Chromium instead of Chrome.
I typed in the commands anyway and I came up with messages saying that no such files were present.
The updates still fail.

Hello Linux Lite Community:
In the past few days, whenever I try to install updates, about halfway through the process it freezes and a window appears with a red "X" stating, "Couldn't fetch the package cache information lists".
Attached is the system report I performed after several update attempts.
