The thread
here seems to sum up my problem, but since it's marked Solved I thought I'd better start a new thread.
I use Slimjet as my default browser. It is a chromium derivative installed via a 64 bit .deb package. It runs great, but I have had this problem since Day One.
I make Slimjet the default browser from within its interface. But when I try to access a web page from another program, I have to specify the default browser, as it says none is set. I set it to Flashpeak Slimjet, and it then works fine. But the next time I open Slimjet it asks me whether I want to make it the default browser, which it already should be.
It seems that Slimjet is fighting the system for default browser rights.I went to Lite Tweaks to set SJ as default browser at the system level, but now the only choices it offers are firefox, chrome and chromium. I would swear that Flashpeak Slimjet was listed there under LL 2.6, but it's not there now. What's more, Chrome is not on the system.
I tried to see if this is a chromium or LL problem by making Firefox the default browser, but doing so didn't stop Slimjet from being the target browser for system calls. Maybe I needed to reboot?
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
