We'd need to know exactly what device you have and what model. The more detail ofc, the better.

ofc?

It's an iPhone 3GS.

It works perfectly in Manjaro Xfce 0.8.10 and Calculate 15, for example, but is broken in some other distros/editions. Therefore, I guess, it's a matter of having the correct software versions installed and configured correctly.

Bandwidth is limited so I don't want to download anything if it's not going to work.

Thanks!

To be honest, we haven't had many questions on this. I assume charging would work. Depending on the Gen. of the device, you can install iDevices Manager from Lite Software. More info here - http://www.gtkpod.org/wiki/Home We'd need to know exactly what device you have and what model. The more detail ofc, the better.
