Conky (1.10):Problems: Items not working the same as previously in 2.8 (conky 1.9)Fix: Conky was updated to 1.10, googled and several threads discuss.. I rolled back to 1.9 as I just wanted it to work for the time being.. May revisitIf already installed - removeCode: [Select]sudo apt-get remove --purge conky-std && sudo apt-get autoremoveThen... *Note version required (64bit or 32bit) for 32 I used xxxx_i386.debCode: [Select]w get http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/c/conky/conky-std_1.9.0-4_amd64.deb Remove the space from w getAgain replace with xxxx_i386.debCode: [Select]sudo gdebi conky-std_1.9.0-4_amd64.debFinally so it doesn't get updated: Code: [Select]sudo apt-mark hold conky-stdAs discussed http://coreygoldberg.blogspot.com/2016/03/what-heck-happened-to-conky-im-rolling-back.html
sudo apt-get remove --purge conky-std && sudo apt-get autoremove
w get http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/c/conky/conky-std_1.9.0-4_amd64.deb
sudo gdebi conky-std_1.9.0-4_amd64.deb
sudo apt-mark hold conky-std
Hi then00b,Have you discovered the outstanding Help Manual yet?For general questions this is the best starting point you can get. If you then run into problems or need further assistance don't hesitate to ask here on the Forums with as much background information as possible.I use conky myself. It's extremely powerful.The installation is the one thing - and easy to do. The fun - in both ways - starts with the configuration.Further information (by far not complete!):http://conky.sourceforge.net/http://conky.sourceforge.net/screenshots.htmlhttp://conky.sourceforge.net/config_settings.htmlhttp://www.techdrivein.com/2011/02/6-awesome-conky-configs-that-just-works.htmlhttp://www.noobslab.com/2012/07/conky-collection-for-ubuntulinux.htmlThere is also a graphical font-end for managing Conky configuration files:http://www.webupd8.org/2014/06/conky-manager-gets-revamped-ui-new.htmlHope that helps for a start
