Is it pen only? I couldn't seem to type in it.

You have to SELECT your writing tool.  Look at the taskbar upper left.

@Artim what do you think of - https://github.com/xournalpp/xournalpp

That's the one, bro!  I use it for lots of school stuff, even for doodling and saving my work as a pdf if I want.  Xournal does it all!  And it's ultra-mega-super simple (fast and free as well).

Here's another one I read about and gave a try in a VM https://getmicropad.com/#download

Some screenshots

I did have a problem though and got this error when tried to launch the app
Code: [Select]
[10677:0226/234423.514117:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(157)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /opt/µPad/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755. as a workaround launching the app with
Code: [Select]
micropad --no-sandbox did work. Don't know what the error really means or it is something users should be wary of but there's that so ... just thought of providing another alternative. The app looks pretty good and promising though. :)
By the way, I've seen this error on another electron based apps as well; Joplin and Etcher, appimages versions.  Could it be some electron bug?

Without each others help there ain't no hope for us :)

They're talking about cherrytree on the MX Linux forum. Apparently, it's being converted to C++ but won't be ready for some time. An MX developer said he's going to package something to buy time.

Zim is being recommended as a replacement.

I've heard of TomBoy, but I'm more familiar with Evernote and/or Google Keep.

Ubuntu will not be including Python2 in 20.04

The first victim is Cherrytree, the note taking app in Lite Software. So now we need a replacement for it. Any ideas?

I read about it few days ago but didn't realize/think about the apps that could be affected. I personally use Zim (which I read is quite similar to CT) and have never used cherrytree so not sure but, maybe Joplin? https://joplinapp.org/
