I have a Realtek that needed updating..
See info https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/release-announcements/linux-lite-3-0-final-released/msg23912/#msg23912

The link I posted https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/reserve-7#TOC-Realtek-RTL8723BE-chipset
Is for various RTL devices - looking for the RTL8723BE the default may be suffice with a mod..
Or as you done in the previous post a driver replace (although some different steps were added)..

Give that link a look; make a systemback backup if it doesn't resolve, you can restore back to the current state.

thanks.  Another subject. I see in your sig about that Kangaroo box.  Did you have to jump through hoops to get it running on that Cherry-Trail Atom?

On rebooting, the wifi "bars" showed up again.  But the name of the wifi router still does not show up sometimes. It's intermittent but very common problem.  I wonder if there's a bug or just that it's not as well implemented as in other desktops?  I don't see this problem using Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon or with Linux Mint Mate v18.  With Linux Lite 3.0 I've experimented with changing Xfce settings to customize it... Anyone know how I can reset it back to fresh-install state

My Wifi connection is working, signal is strong, and connection stable and fast (after parameter experiments and changes I made - see prior post).
Now I'm seeing another problem of the Wifi bars not showing up, and the name of the connected AP also not showing up, even though I'm currently connected very well and fast I/O going on.  Even prior to updating my Realtek Wifi driver I saw the problem of the AP sometimes not showing up under the "Wi-Fi Network" label of the pop-down wifi menu (Panel bar).  I see the "disconnect" option there but not the name of the AP.

My system-info report file is attached
