After reading more closely it looks like the fix isn't perfect but it should still get you started until something better comes along.

Hi,

I tried all existing forums on ubuntuforums.org but I could not find a solution. My PC is a Toshiba Satellite M105-S3041 and its wireless adapter is Intel Wireless 3945abg adapter. My issue is that the wireless LED never turns ON. It is always off. lshw and ifconfig do not list my adapter in hardware. Please I need help. I had ubuntu 12 installed it a while and that detected the wireless adapter fine but that OS is too slow. Linux lite 2.0 is very fast. Otherwise I am extremely happy with the OS.
