Hello!

By default, Indicator Plugin is part of the bottom panel. I have recently schooled myself some on all this,by trying to get all the icons to be the same color in MY panel, after I changed things from the default color scheme.

At the end of the day, what matters is that you were able to ultimately resolve the issue. Reinstalling is a powerful cure for what ails someone's install...

Thanks for responding.
I am not sure I followed your reply I think that I deleted some stuff to make space I don't have blue-tooth on this laptop so I deleted some of those packages Willy nilly I probably knocked out something at that time.
I solved it by installing 2.4. then I had to correct the normal broadcom wifi stuff the same way i did in 2.0.  I now have it running.
I am getting better at this but don't know if I will ever reach my windows level of ability (partly because Linux has not ever broken it always boots so its is more tweaking than anything)
Thanks for you help!

To fix the Network Manager not showing up on the panel issue, from the Lubuntu menu select Preferences > Default applications for LXSession, then click on the Autostart tab and under "Manual autostarted applications" type "nm-applet", then click the "+ Add" button on the left:

 - it was installed by app as well

Hello!

When Lubuntu 14.04 first came out, they forgot to tell it to run nm-applet on startup. It was fixed shortly afterward, and was never a problem in Linux Lite.

Turning Indicator Plugin on after having added nm-applet to run on startup would cause two network icons to appear, but you know that now...

Colin,
Does this work? At least until the panel icon is fixed.
Menu > Internet > Network Connections

Hi Colin

Is your volume control visible? I think volume control and networks are part of the 'indicator plugin' - maybe you have removed it? Try right-click on your panel then 'add items' and choose 'indicator plugin'. :D

My Wifi is working to my Router OK --I am connected to write this

I am not getting the Network Manager Icon on my Panel  so I cannot see what other Wifi networks are available or turn-off wifi etc

Tried reinstalling the network managers in Synaptic

Did an upgrade

Tried http://www.webupd8.org/2014/04/fix-lubuntu-1404-network-manager.html -- directed there from Ubuntu Forum

I used Session & Startup > Application Autostart > Add --in Linux-Lite 2 and Restarted
