[ ABANDONED ] Can’t connect Wired Ethernet worked on the live install CD

What you write seems normal.  This is what things look like when I'm on WiFi.

 


This is what things look like when I have WiFi on, and I'm connected with a wire.

Can’t connect Wired Ethernet

(I can connect by USB wireless dongle as below)
Ip Address:     192.168.1.187
Boradcast Add:  192.168.1.255
Subnet Mask:    255.255.255.0
Default Route:  192.168.1.254
Primary DNS:    192.168.1.254

I am Using help - Network html page on Linux lite site.

Enable Networking is ticked.
I cannot click the wired Ethernet connection as it is grayed out.

I click on Edit connections
Network connections:
Ethernet
     Wired connection 1 
Wi-Fi
      BT etc    connected now

Edit Connections:
I select Editing Wired connection 1 (ipv4 settings)
I select:   Method    Manual  then   Add and input
 Address  192.168.1.178
Netmask:  255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.254
DNS server: 192.168.1.254

I click on save and restart the machine ….the wired network is still greyed out.
