Desktop Linux has come a long way now, donchya think?

It has come a long way, and yet it has also regressed in some ways (just as I think most other OS UIs have also regressed in some ways) :(

Desktop Linux has come a long way now, donchya think?  It rivals anything else out there, and Linux Lite is one of the best examples.

So, while I'm new to Lite I've had Linux exposure back to the days of the 1.2.x kernels in a role as a system admin.  Haven't had much desktop Linux experience for quite a few years but Microsoft's recent antics are pushing me in this direction for my private computing requirements.

After spending a couple of weeks sampling a variety of distros, Lite has come out the choice for my needs - which include for use by an elderly relative so that I can remotely support them.  I now administer 4 installations all on Lite 3.4 64bit: a VirtualBox VM on my Windows 7 desktop, a Dell all-in-one and an Acer notebook (both legacy boot), and an Intel NUC (UEFI boot).  The Dell is now with the relative and Teamviewer has been very useful for remote support.

Thanks to m654321 for his UEFI tutorial and thanks to Jerry and co for Lite!
