Oh, wow! I could create a new topic now, thanks!
If you paste your link into the thread linked to above, Jerry or one of the staff can look at the cause and solve it for future posts.

There is no requirement, post count level that I am aware of.
It could be a forum glitch, try again to see if it repeats the error.
In case this is causing the issue - if you are adding code it should begin with code and end with /code , each of these should be inside square brackets.

There is a known intermittent 403 bug, details of how to resolve it are here

I tried posting under Development - Coding by creating a New Topic, but there's an error 403 Forbidden.
It says "You don't have permission to access /forums/coding/ on this server."

Is there a requirement? Or have I posted under the wrong section?

Hello Homework,

Welcome to the forum and Linux Lite  :)

Yes the coding section would be the right section to ask programming questions.

Thank you very much for all your kind replies.
There's a Coding section here on this forum, and I have programming questions on Java. Could I post it there under that section?

Welcome!

This is a very welcoming place for newbies and technophobes.  No question is silly unless it doesn't include:

  • What version of Linux Lite you are running (the latest 32-bit or 64-bit, etc),
  • What kind of computer you have (more on that in a sec)
  • What's wrong
  • What you have tried to do about it, and
  • What resulted from your efforts.
If you're like a lot of us, you really don't even know what kind of computer you have.  But part of the wonderful genius of Linux Lite is a super-easy way to find out and share with the group:

Menu -> System -> Share Configuration

It walks you right through the whole process.  Perfect for newbies!  Just like this superb Linux mixture.

...and please do pardon me if I ask silly questions because I'm not very good with computer and I'm trying to learn more about it.

Welcome !

Everyone has to start somewhere, at sometime. If your question is about Linux Lite and how it and the computer works, then there's no such thing as a "silly question" - you've come to the right place
for help. Enjoy your stay here and I'm pretty sure you'll learn a lot about Linux if you stick around ...

Cheers
Mike

64bit OS (32-bit on Samsung netbook) installed in Legacy mode on MBR-formatted SSDs (except pi which uses a micro SDHC card):
2017 - Raspberry pi 3B (4cores) ~ [email protected] - LibreElec, used for upgrading our Samsung TV (excellent for the task)
2012 - Lenovo G580 2689 (2cores; 4threads] ~ [email protected] - LL3.8/Win8.1 dual-boot (LL working smoothly)
2011 - Samsung NP-N145 Plus (1core; 2threads) ~ Intel Atom [email protected] - LL 3.8 32-bit (64-bit too 'laggy')
2008 - Asus X71Q (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6/Win8.1 dual-boot, LL works fine with kernel 4.15
2007 - Dell Latitude D630 (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6, works well with kernel 4.4; 4.15 doesn't work
