[ SOLVED ] Linux Lite and Android Studio

Thank you.  It will be a couple of days before I'll be able to implement this, but I wanted to make sure I knew the answer before proceeding

Had 10 minutes here to spare, ran it in VM no problem at all. The program asks for Oracle Java instead of our installed OpenJDK. If you want to install the Oracle Java, see here - https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/tutorials/install-java-on-linux-lite/ otherwise Android Studio will still run under OpenJDK just fine.

1) You could install Linux Lite in a virtual machine and then install Android Studio to test it out.
2) You could web search "Android Studio Ubuntu 14.04" or "Android Studio Ubuntu 16.04."  The 2.x and 3.x Linux Lite series are based on those versions of Ubuntu.  From there, you can see how others are installing it.
3) You could web search "Android Studio Xfce" to see if/how others are using Android Studio using the Xfce desktop environment, which is the desktop environment for Linux Lite.

For the record, I've already done #2 and #3 above, and in my cursory overview, I don't foresee a problem.  Do your own research to be sure.

I haven't installed Linux Lite yet, and I'm researching my options.  Linux Lite appears to be in first place; definitely for everyday computing for my family and I, and possibly for other things as well.

However there are always applications that a person is not sure about (true for any operating system), and at the top of my list would be Android Studio, including running its built-in emulator.  The web site says you need KDE or Gnome, and I was wondering if Android Studio would work in an out-of-the-box Linux Lite 3.0 xfce environment.  And even if so, how stable would such a set up be? (My definition of stable in this case means free from conflicts and crashes, the overall stability of Linux Lite is one of the things that attracted me to this distro).

P.S., I'm a linux beginner but I'm eager to learn
