I install only what is called pidgin in the list that appears to me?
Your info shows you are running Linux lite 3.0 so pidgin is there in your menu. Yeah that's the application I recommended in my previous post and it has a multitude of protocols for chatting, IRC being one of them.

Sorry for seeming stupid and preferring Linux - I just don't know any better.

I have installed a program called Empathy.

This program seems to be used to communicate through registration sites such as facebook and others. Is there no free chat for everyone?

Good afternoon friends of LL

I would like to know how to install IRC

I have stored something called irssi but I do not know how it is configured and the
Information on the internet is very contradictory. Could someone help me?

Thank you very much

I believe you are looking for an IRC client  (messenger application). If so, just install "Instant Messenger" from Lite Software. You can then find Pidgin Internet Messenger under Menu -> Internet. It supports a multitude of protocols, including IRC. A single app for all your messaging needs. Cheers!
