Thank you - that sounds a fabulous idea. So, that would mean as I keep my system upto date - so the USB would be updated?

If you want a live USB to do banking I have a very, very simple idea for you. Plug an 8gb usb stick into your computer. Make sure it's one that you won't use for anything else. Then go to Menu < System < Systemback. Open it, enter your password. On the right select "Live system create". Enter a name for the system (I use the date) & make sure you tick the little box "Include the user data files" Under "Write target" make sure your little USB stick is showing. If not press the little green arrow to the right of that. All's good? Then press "create new". When it's finished press "write to target". Now all you have to do is boot your laptop to the usb drive instead of your hard drive. You now have a bootable USB stick that is just like a live disk, but it's an exact copy of your installed OS. Repeat the process once a week, month, whatever you choose to do. I do it monthly. What's also great about this is if anything every corrupts your OS you can reinstall the OS from that usb stick. Once the usb stick is booted go to Menu < All < Install release. You can also use that usb stick to install an exact copy of your OS on another computer. Very useful feature.

Hi, I'm running 2.8 on my notebooks & "old faithful" very happily. They all update, they all talk to my printer - my daughters are happy to use 2.8, all is rosy! I'm working on the, "if it ain't broke don't fix it ideology these days". I do have a silly question though about running 3.4 on a USB. As always, I like a good play so I've put 3.4 onto a USB to have a play around with. I'm hoping to use the USB version just for banking - thinking it's a safer way of doing things - just having it in isolation. My question is around updates - I've tried to find the answer & have got a bit confused, so, why is there no need to update a live version running just from USB?
