I've got LL 2.0 installed to an old (2001-02) Micron desktop with only 512MB of RAM and it works pretty well, so I'm not sure what problem is with your laptop.  It's old, but I think it should work with LL.  That being said, I don't know what is causing your problems, so rest of this post is really just basic preliminary questions and a wild guess.

Did you ever confirm the md5sum of the ISO file you used to make the live USB?  If not, here is a tool you can use in Windows to do so:  http://www.sinf.gr/en/hashcalc.html.  Here's another:  http://www.winmd5.com/.  Run either of those on the ISO file and make sure the result matches what is shown on the LL download page.

I'm assuming you downloaded and used the 32-bit version of LL, correct?  (Probably a stupid question because it wouldn't have installed at all if it were 64-bit.)

From your bootinfo.txt report, I think it says you have 3 USB ports:  2 that are the old USB 1.1 and one that is newer USB 2.0.  If that's correct, boot computer with you USB stick again and try it in each of the three USB ports (assuming the USB 2.0 port is not labelled as such).  I'd expect that the performance from the 2.0 port will be better than that of the other two.  See if that is in fact the case, then try a new install again while booted using that port.  (I'm grabbing at straws -- don't really know if that will make a difference.)

Howdy. Just noticing it is a old rig. Something I am used to myself. I do not run Linux Lite on my old gear how ever.
So pertinent info for team members here I see are.

Quote
BIOS Information
   Vendor: Phoenix
   Version: 4.06
   Release Date: 08/29/2003

Quote
Chassis Information
   Manufacturer: BUYMPC
   Type: Notebook

Ram Specs:

Quote
Size: 512 MB
   Form Factor: DIMM
   Set: 1
   Locator: M1

Mentioned twice in systeminfo report as Bank 0 and Bank 1 so it looks like the OP is using 1 gig of ram with 2 512MB sticks.

Processor is:
Quote
Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 - M CPU 2.20GHz

Video is:
Quote
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RV250/M9 GL [Mobility FireGL 9000/Radeon 9000] (rev 02)

which looks to be running the open source radeon driver after install in lsmod readout.

Just trying to help with bisecting pertinent info from sysinfo report so members can help easier.

@SayWhat. Here is another thread i responded to that sounds kind of similar to yours.

Hello LL community, was so very excited to try Linux again - hoping this time would be a happiness.  Sadly, no fun here...

The issue:  It took 3 to 4 hours to install LL to my laptop, no matter what BIOS settings I try.  It takes 20 to 30 minutes to boot into the OS from cold start.  Once in, it takes minutes to open apps and play around with anything.  Shutdowns are not possible, it goes through some dialog about quitting this and that, goes blank, then sits there indefinitely.

My solution attempts:  Downloaded the ISO file twice to separate locations.  Created a USB image 3 times using Win32DiskImager, onto 2 different thumb drives freshly formatted w/FAT32.  Tried disabling every available hardware device possible in the BIOS.  Took out HDD and booted into LL off USB stick only - still ultra slow, 40+ minutes...  Ran an update of the software, which it did perform, taking another close to an hour - no change in slowness.

Attached is my system info file I managed to generate (25 minutes), so I won't duplicate the specs here again.  The laptop is from Micron, and is technically a MPC TransPort X1000, which came with WinXP originally.  It does run on Win 7, albeit slowly (but way faster than LL will go).  The HDD is a different one I've put in for running LL exclusively, and checks out fine.

Perhaps I'm just not meant to enjoy the wonderful world of Linux, as this is my 4th attempt to use it in the last 10 years (all with issues, and on different systems).  If I had to guess, it seems as if something is taking up CPU cycles and not allowing much else to have any.  I did run the Resources program while in LL, and the CPU shows 100% in red color bars, but the number of running processes is 4 to 5 - and the percentages of usage don't add up to 100.  Anyway, I'm at a loss as to what to try next.  Driver???

I hope it's something simple, and I apologize up front for my lack of Linux knowledge - been a MS dude all these years going back to DOS.  Would like to begin learning Linux and becoming comfortable with it, but not if it runs slower than molasses for me.  I appreciate any help that can be given in solving this severe slowness.  I look forward to trying any suggestions, or giving more info if needed.  Thank you...
