Hello ChrisM

I was unable to reproduce this error. I just installed LL3.4 Beta 32-Bit on an ancient WinXP era Sony Vaio laptop. My choices for these install options were:
Download Updates During Installation - NO
Install 3rd Party Software - YES

As a test, if it differes from what was already tried, avoid using any network during installation - no wifi no ethernet.

This step is optional and can be ignored. For my install media I used a usb flash drive with the Plop bootloader on a CD for booting (my test laptop lacks the ability natively to boot from usb) the Linux Lite Help Manual reference for this is here (https://www.linuxliteos.com/manual/install.html) - under the heading "No USB Boot option in the Bios? Use PloP."

Again, the last step is optional.

I'll look into this. But to note, I haven't come across this at all in my tests. It's more than likely a local anomaly restricted to your pc.

@ChrisM,

A few observations:

1) It looks like it had an issue while trying to update the Linux kernel.
2) You installed a beta.  The beta is only good for one more week.  The full version of LL 3.4 will be released April 1, 2017.
3) Try running the Live Media of version 3.2 (not a beta).  If it runs well, consider installing that.  You can always use the Lite Upgrade utility after April 1st to get to version 3.4.

Besides this issue, how well is Linux Lite 3.4 beta running on your 2005 Satellite Pro?

Just come back to my laptop after installing 3.4 and completing stage 1 - Install Updates to find an error 1 message.  At the bottom of llupdate.log are the seemingly only lines that refer to an error and they say:

Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-4.4.0-66-generic_4.4.0-66.87_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Is this serious? It's all Greek/Sesuto/Ukranian to me.

Comment is:
The otherwise helpful opening screen that tells of these three install steps is not persistent and could not be easily restarted after this problem.  Is it designed to halt all activity until this error resolved or did it just sort of ...happen... dunno why?

I am itching to see if my 2005 Satellite Pro will run this distro - it's grown glacial, even on XP.:-(
