Having installed 2.whatever on several PCs and laptops with great results,  I was given a 27" iMac, which is a big-screen jump (pun intended) from the old desk-side whatsit box.
I  loaded 2.6.6 (64bit) onto a new HD,  and WOW, beautiful and super-fast !
That is, until I attempted to install a second LAN printer, an Epson 840.
The first HP CM1312 works perfectly. The Epson would not complete the synaptic load process without a error message about libc??? 64?? amd???.
Oh well, time for a new OS.  Lite 3.8 downloaded, and well... it  made me sick.   I went from a wonderful 2.6.6 to this ?????   Here I sit waiting for the worlds slowest bootup, to a 27" buzzard-feather on a eerie mustard background, then a solid blue screen asking for a password for "iMac".
My only alternative is the power-OFF switch.   You can keep 3.8.
Now, my question is, can I install 2.6 (32 bit (not 64) and hope that cures the Epson problem ?
Or, does the iMac require a 64bit OS ?
