  • CPU: Intel i5-3230M (4) @ 3.200GHz

  • MEMORY: 16Gb

  • VIDEO CARD: Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics

  • Kernel: 5.x
You could try changing the boot order in the BIOS / System Setup.  Put USB higher in the order than your hard drive.  That way you can avoid trying to get to your Boot Menu prompt and mis-selecting the USB option.

The best I can make out the tiny letters and numbers ..it looks like 15-1272wm.  But the numbers are so tiny I could be wrong.
I disabled secure boot and enabled legacy boot in bios...but when I tried to choose usb boot option, I could not.  It stayed on original setting.  It will not boot from usb.

Thanks.

@Dana Marsee,

Are you sure about the model number?  The closest thing I can find is 15-f272wm.

Have you tried booting to the USB to see what happens?  Based on the specs I'm seeing for the 15-f272wm, and based on the fact that the computer came with Windows 10, Linux Lite 3.4 should install as usual assuming UEFI or Secure Boot are not enabled in the BIOS/System Setup.

Information on the BIOS/System Setup and UEFI for the model I found are located here:

Thanks very much....this is getting way above my paygrade.  I installed linuxlite on an old computer and love it.  I bought this one thinking I would install linux..but stayed with win 10 until I got fed up with it...but I don't think I can do it on this one..getting way too complicated.  Thanks for your help. I really do appreciate it. But I guess I had better stay with something that works.  Thanks again.

Hello Dana Marsee,

it says on the specs it is Intel HD graphics, the following 2 links is what I had help to learn to do to get Intel HD graphics to work with the install.
it is best to read all through it as I made a few errors in learning the process, so that will streamline the process for you by not making same errors etc.

https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/installing-linux-lite/installing-ll-3-2/

https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/video-cards/intel-530hd/

You will need the Intel Graphics stack for the drivers
https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloads/2016q4-intel-graphics-stack-recipe

You will have to use this version not the current/2017 ones, as the 2017 graphics stack latest is not supported in LL yet, as they need newer Ubuntu version to work with the new releases of Mesa and Xorg.
It is in Ubuntu 17 but this is not LTS, the first LTS supporting it will be next one (18.04?), so it will be the LL version that will use the same source as that etc.

You may need to disable secure boot/uefi and enable legacy boot.  More on this is in the Install Guide of the Help Manual www.linuxliteos.com/manual.
