I managed to resolve the issue after several tries. In those many attempts, I installed LL on the USB (not just live version) with 4GB storage and had the SDD without /boot. So, I erased the USB and the SSD. I reinstalled the ISO on the USB. But during installation menu, I selected Direct Install; without booting the desktop.

Everything looks ok now. Thank you for your help.

Best Regards

Yes, the ISO you download is for creating a Live Media device - not for directly installing onto a system disk.

If you transfer the ISO file to an SSD (using Etcher or Rufus) then the SSD is now a Live Media device which isn't what you want.

Using a memory stick or a DVD as the Live Media device and booting from it (with the SSD installed in the target machine) will allow the proper installation the OS onto the SSD as a system disk using the data from the Live Media device.

The installation will overwrite the SSD and set it up properly so that it can be updated and used as a normal OS disk.

Follow the instructions here and post back if you need help.

I used another PC to install the ISO on the SSD directly. Are you saying the ISO is for LL live and not for directly installing on the SSD? So I need a bootable USB to make a Live media for it to install in the SSD? I will do that and keep you posted

I'm a bit confused.

It is usual to take the downloaded  ISO file and make a bootable Live Media device.
The Live Media device will typically be a USB Flash stick or a writeable DVD.
Etcher software or similar will be used to create the Live Media device.

The Live Media is used to boot the system and then it is possible to install the Linux Lite OS onto the internal disk.
If the install is successful, the system should boot from the installed OS on the internal disk.

Your output looks like a boot from a Live Media (rather than an installed system) but it looks like the Live Media may be your SSD rather than a memory stick or DVD.

Can you confirm the steps you are taking to install Linux Lite on to your SSD and at which point it fails ?

I have this error towards the end of installation. I think its during 'Updates' and it says there is no space. So I am left with a desktop. But I cannot do any updates of 212 files
