Thanks bitsnpcs but since xfburn is closely linked to the xfce desktop I think it would be nice for new converts if any dependencies were installed automatically.

Hello mdavies5,
installing 'Restricted extras' from the 'Install Additional Software' GUI will solve this particular error message in XFBurn.

After installing several apps such as Clementine, Asunder, Audacity and Pitivi this error message has disappeared. These apps all install a variety of glib libraries

When starting xfburn the message "Failed to initialise Gstreamer encoder. Falling back to basic implementation" appears then it starts ok. I have tried installing Gstreamer components from Synaptic but it does not solve the problem. I have used xfburn on other distros with xfce desktop with no problems.
