One for Jerry!

Would it be possible to add a button on the menu, to the left of the "All Settings" icon, that toggles the descriptions of the sub menu items. The headings are largely self explanatory. This would present the menu with a much cleaner interface, whilst allowing a quick switch back on, for those who require a further explanation of the menu items. After using your favourite apps, you no longer need a description of what it is. Just a thought!  :D

LL, still the best by a long shot!
Cheers!

@misko_2083, Oh well I thought the XFCE themes would be simple to make available. For me, I still use and recommend BleuFear to be included for a dark theme as I previously posted. It has worked with several versions of LL.

@tehnomancer There was an application for that "xfce theme manager". Not sure if it's still being developed.
@Coastie Not all themes look good on LL. It's possible to patch a gtk2/gtk3 theme to make it fully compatible with enough time. Some themes are very old, developers stoped further development at some point. Desktop environments continue to be developed, and that's why themes get messy. GPL  themes can be forked and you update them when you have time.  Imagine if all the themes got messy because DE got a major update. The more themes you provide the more work you have to do to fix them. If J just adds random themes that have issues LL would look unfinished. That is my opinion.
What I would like see is that people step in open a github account and start forkin and patching themes. Although many people hate git it's still the best way to develop projects in colaborative manner. The more people see the code the better. Then you push your commits and follow the changes you made. And anyone can make suggestions to your code or graphics. Also your project can be a good base for someone to create a different theme. And if you step out another theme developer can fork your project and continue to work on the code.
Perhaps we need a decent step by step git and githib tutorial that anyone can understand. :)
As for the themes, there has to be neat theme tutorials on the internet. It's super easy to make a xfwm theme, that's a good start. First you make one of those and continue with gtk theming. Best to start with an existing theme and make your changes as you learn. In the begining just colors and later taskbar and whisker menu.

For a variety of themes for the new user (and I think simple to make available), include all the XFCE themes.

Sugesstion- A wider selection of themes, OR, a better way to change the current theme in XFCE.
-Maybe a "LinuxLite theme changer" Tool ? Give some flexibility to the end user as far as the look and feel.
-A "kinda" Win theme so new windoze converts feel at home, BUT just as an option.
Just throwing the idea out there........

@firenice03 ... and anyone else.

Thanks but I know enough about UEFI that I do not like it anymore than I like Windows.  >:( I happily live without Windows but it looks like we are stuck with UEFI.

Other than that, I think we should respect Jerry's wishes and drop the subject until he is ready for suggestions for 3.0.

Rerfind boot manager is nice. Would be nice to have that in LL considering UEFI support. But easier said than done. :)

If looking for some "info" I found http://www.uefi.org/ has some decent on the "thought" behind it..

... I will look at UEFI in Series 3, not sooner. So it's not completely ruled out, one thing about technology is one must be willing to be flexible around a set of circumstances. ...

@Duckeenie, let me make an analogy. That would be like giving a crack addict a voucher for a gram of crack, you're not actually giving him the crack, but your giving him a way to get it :)

Not really a fair analogy Jerry because any balanced person would agree that crack is bad news. The UEFI thing is a question of perspective.

I think I need to summarize here because it seems some folk aren't getting it. I've made it known publicly (several times) that I will look at UEFI in Series 3, not sooner. So it's not completely ruled out, one thing about technology is one must be willing to be flexible around a set of circumstances.

Now let's get back on course here and keep the 2.8 suggestions coming. Thank you all for your input on this topic thus far :)

@Jerry

I don't dual boot so it doesn't really affect me at this time but wouldn't it be technically/ethically possible to make UEFI installer an option, you know, like we have for codecs? This way your ethics remain intact?
