@Wirezfree - yeah that's what I was thinking  8) - but I only have the 2 LL systems, thus far...
That and I'd need a browser sitting next to it with what commands are next LOL  :P

@firenice03

If you mean you just want to do terminal stuff/commands take a look at my SSH Post
This is from my main PC to my other 5 PC's (I know, get a life):

Is this a good idea?

Given that many people use their web browser to learn and use/copy&paste terminal commands, is it convenient to have a tab that acts as a terminal?

More details here - http://www.tecmint.com/shell-in-a-box-a-web-based-ssh-terminal-to-access-remote-linux-servers/

It is secure, and not accessible from the outside unless you open that particular port on your router, which I doubt people would be stupid enough to do.

For me, thinking on the local system.. I liked at 1st (thinking it could be cool).. Then I thought about it - I'm not great with command line, especially Linux commands (I'm learning) so I almost always have a browser open or doc of sorts that I'm looking at either copy and pasting or retyping.. So I'm looking at both the terminal and the webpage (possibly reading whats next) kinda side by side... One could use with 2 browser windows I suppose; but not sure on the tab/tab switching...

Now something to connect to a remote systems (same network) - interest is peaking :)
example I can run a command to multiple LL systems from 1 (installing an app I want on both or updates etc.)

Just my thoughts....

Or you could just right click and hit the "R" key.

I agree with Jerry.  Before the winter of 2014, I'd been a Windows only user for more than a decade, and I just found out about the "quick rename" option last year.  I don't think not knowing it cost me much time.  Oftentimes, I found myself waiting for Windows to catch up to ME.  It was the constant waiting for Windows memory or CPU usage to subside that made me pay attention when I was exposed to the benefits of using Linux as a desktop OS.

The same time could be spent clicking on the file once and hitting F2, and guarantees to work each time. Single clicking, then repeating that process requires some precision and I'm sure some folks have not got the timing right and accidentally double clicked, doesn't seem efficient. Either way, this is something that the Thunar devs would have to add as a feature.

In Windows, you highlight the filename, wait half a second, and then click the filename again.  The filename will then be highlighted as if it's waiting to be renamed.

I use single click in Linux Lite, so this probably wouldn't work for me.

How does this work in Windows MarkZ?

Jerry & Team - We would love the ability for files to have a "Quick Rename" feature where you click on a file or folder name and it gives you the ability to change the name of the file or folder rather than having to right click and select rename from the menu. This has been a Windows feature for quite some time and have always loved it in Windows and use it all the time at work. I suppose this might be a limitation of Thunar but just thought I would bring up.

LL 2.8 is looking good so far.

- Mark

The maximum screen resolution on this old Acer aspire One is only 1024X600 that is the main reason I use an external monitor, that and my eyes not being what they used to be.  :)

I have played with this, and if I modify it to fit 1024X600 resolutions, everyone would have to resize the main window. After playing with this, it's not the best solution. You can edit /usr/share/litecc/litecenter.py yourselves and change:

Code: [Select]
window.set_size_request(880, 660)
to
Code: [Select]
window.set_size_request(880, 580)
Curious, I've made a similar change, have to look up the exact line, but it resets when theres an update.. Will this stick or possibly revert on a LLCC update?..
No biggie if does just a thought..

Jerry.. I played a little this evening - discovered a way to set the LLCC to 1 size (880,660) and allow for the window to be re-sized for us smaller screen folks.
Maybe a work around for smaller resolutions with variant panel settings, as larger screen resolutions wouldn't need this work around - if you're wanting to keep the LLCC a set size..

Modify the same litecenter.py file:

Modifying the original from:
Code: [Select]
    window.set_size_request(880,660)
    # Valtam do we need to resize window?
    window.set_resizable(False)

To: (note only 1st and last lines are modified)
Code: [Select]
    window.set_default_size(880,660)
    # Valtam do we need to resize window?
    # window.set_resizable(False)

It won't be permanent Lynne, it can be removed or added via Lite Control Center.

I found my notes from where I modified a while back, it does revert on an update.. But maybe this info may help for future builds... ??? ...

Unmodified: The last row is not accessible/cut off.

One does have to make a slight modification the LLCC css file
Height Modified: from 100% to 85% - Scroll bar is active allowing to scroll down to last row.

For this resolution it works great - on a full size screen there would be a blank area within the box under the icons.

For those interested.. The css file does not require admin rights to modify.
It never hurts to make copy/back up of the file.. Whether in terminal or Thunar
Incorrect context can render LLCC to open with a blank screen
Open the 'main.css' file in the following: (any text editor)
Code: [Select]
/usr/share/litecc/frontend/css/
Under the body section modify height from 100% to 85% (or what works best)
Code: [Select]
body {
background-image: url("../images/noise.png");
margin:0;
font:13px/14px "Ubuntu", sans-serif;  /*App default font size*/
color:#8a8a8a;

height:85%;
}

relaunch LLCC

This is what I did and worked from me - probably a few months ago now.. As I mentioned hopefully its helps for future???

Hi Jerry,

Please don't make the Help Manual link on the desktop permanent. I am a person who likes a very (as in extremely) uncluttered desktop and anything on it I delete or move to my "favourites". I always consider background images are there to be seen, not to be cluttered with icons.

Thank you for a wonderful distro.

Lynne ... :)
