If you are using an Ubuntu rescue disk to repair a grub ruined by Windows update restart the odds are ususally about 100%. Most of the file errors are orphans. Just answer yes. TC
You need an Ubuntu rescue disk, and you'll have to run fsck manually. It looks like a Windows update restart booted into Ubuntu and messed up your LL system. Make sure Windows is the first system grub boots into.TC

Did you try to do what was said on the page? What it really looks like is a hardware failure. I had a cpu go out but it gave a different error message. Try unplugging the usb device that is plugged in giving the error.
Have you tried a LL Live DVD to see whether it is software or hardware problem?
