Jerry, I noticed that libreoffice shortcuts in Whisker menu point to /etc/skel/.local/share/applications/ instead of ~/.local/share/applications/
Can we correct that at some point?

I also see the same for simple-scan... it is using skel folder instead user's ./local/share/applications. There might be others, will better gather them and list them here:
libreoffice-*
simple-scan
Edited:
Actually it is the case for almost every application in Linux Lite. They are copied over to the user profile but somehow pointing to those .desktop files was overlooked. Meaning that it doesn't matter if the application is completely removed, the shortcut will always show under Whisker menu. This Whisker menu mess is all over, I better leave it alone until we decide to come hard at it and upgrade it or something. It is not worth putting a band-aid on it, we need to fix it from its root.

It's not something I'm going to get into a panic about Ralphy. This is a topic we've discussed before and I said then it will be a different story in Series 4.x
I'd rather we focused on more important things in this Series. Cheers.

We don't need to panic about this, Jerry. I understand what you're saying to some extend but why we aren't fixing these things is what I really don't grasp. I'm looking at the code and there isn't anything preventing us from fixing these things. Allow me to explain...
These are bugs that have never been addressed. From what you are saying LL users will have to wait another 4 releases for us to basically move to another Menu and the current one will not be addressed. The question remains:
Where is our improvement for current series then?
LL is solid and we have certainly improved our apps, no doubt. But what are those "important things" we should spend more time on in current series? - we have improved almost every tweak, the upgrader, createsysreport, we have added new tweaks that work, etc. I do have real concerns for improving what we already have in place instead of building on top of things that are broken and left unattended.
Last time we talked about the menu I didn't look at the code. Today, when looking at it, I see things that can be improved to address these issues (for the most part) without having to write hundreds of lines of code. Then again, why aren't we doing something about it in 3.x series?; that's all I wanna know partner.

I don't take this personal. Taking things personally leads to the end of collaborations. I keep emotion out of this. My thoughts and actions are for the users. Think Spock, not 100% logical due to his human half, but well meaning ;)
We're not always going to land on the same page, and I have always shown my gratitude to you in more ways than one.
Of course I encourage you to innovate and make suggestions, just be aware it may not happen and I'm not going to be made to feel like I have to explain why. The only people I'm answerable to are our users. This isn't a power or ego thing, you just have to trust me.
Let's move on to the next big thing and leave this behind us.
I'll throw up a post soon to clarify what I want us to work on.
