LL 2.8 install with encryption stuck at "creating user"
#1
have loved linux lite from the get go and when i saw that 2.8 was released had to give it another go. Normal install works fine but i need disk encryption (i travel a lot with sensitive data and can't risk it being stolen). When i try to install with encrypted / lvm the install process stalls at "creating user" both on VM and during normal install. I have seen this error/bug with other distro's to and have yet to find a fix.

any suggestions are welcome as i would love to be able to get back to using LL

regards,
NiiX

That's covered in the Help Manual. Look in Install > Encrypting your Home folder

when i "sudo blkid | grep swap" i get :

/dev/mapper/linux--vg-swap_1: ........

should that not be something like

/dev/mapper/cryptswap1: ........

if swap is not encrypted its not good

(sorry for all the questions)

The instructions are only for encrypting your home folder. You'd have to search online for swap encryption, unless someone here has already done it.

Niix,

When you've encrypted the home folder before, did it affect your performance at all?
