Hi, I'm trying to install Linux Lite on an old ASUS laptop from a usb drive.
The live install went fine, I chose the ''Erase Disk'' option.
When the install was done, I rebooted. I was  prompted to remove the usb drive and I did so.

Then, I got a black screen with the message : "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key" and no other options

I checked the BIOS, Secure Boot is disabled and my only boot options are called  " HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GU71N" which must be the DVD reader of the laptop, and "Realtek PXE B04 D00". Booting with either of those fails and displays the same message.
When I tried to re-install, the "Partition" section of the install showed an existing Linux partition, so i should have a correct device to boot from.

I tried to re-install several times with manual partitioning but still got the same message.

Any idea of what I should do ?

Yes it works now
I installed again and did the manual partitioning by following the steps in this tutorial : https://wiki.linuxliteos.com/en/install
Then it booted correctly.

(I should note that the tutorial seems to be missing a step : the screenshot at the end shows a 8Mb partition, but the tutorial doesn't say to create it. I had to create it using the settings visible on the screenshot, without it the system wouldn't boot.)

Thank you for persisting and glad you got it working.

I think the requirement (or not) for an 8MB partition depends on
1) if the system is BIOS or UEFI and
2) if the disk partitioning is going to be MBR or GPT.

It can get a bit complicated which means documenting a manual installation sequence can't cover everything.  Maybe the screenshots used in the wiki need looking at.
Can you confirm if your ASUS system is BIOS only, UEFI running in BIOS mode or full UEFI and what disk partitioning is in use ?

I'm not sure, but my BIOS had both a UEFI and a non-UEFI boot option for my usb drive, so i guess UEFI in BIOS mode.
I used GPT disk partitioning like in the tutorial
