Linux Lite 8.0  Installer- Severe bug  on Manual Partitioning

Manual partitioning module of the installer has severe bugs.
It lacks the option to install on /dev/sda1. It shows only /dev/sda.
I need this (manual partitioning) because of the data I have on other partitions I have on the SSD.
If there is /dev/sda1, it ignores the partition, then shows an error window that says that LL requires an EFI partition and sends to the previous step. Which is a dead end.
I used also GPartED to flag the /dev/sda1, but got the same result. The boot partition is (still) invisible to the installer.
I find weird the fact that somehow, in /dev/sda1/ the description says flagged with "boot" so how comes that it ignores it and throws the EFI missing error?!
I suppose that for whatever reason, the combobox that was supposed to have the option to boot from a FAT32 partition (/dev/sda1/) instead of /dev/sda (MBR mode), couldn't be updated accordingly to the partitioning.

There are also errors in getting the time zone (it defaults to USA instead of Europe/Bucharest) but this is kinda minor thing.
It is weird though, since the connection is visible and valid.

As for the previous posts regarding the updates, the updater showed some 150 updates available or so.
Another glitch is that the "Welcome" screen that shows the "Install Now" button, lacks the command behind the button. That is, it does nothing when clicked.
I'll get back if any idea comes in (Upgrade maybe? I still want a clean full install though...).

It is in the default install sequence. When the world screen shows, usually if the connection is active, it shows the country according to the TZ. It only shows the default settings if the connection is missing.
But... how is it possible to see that there are updates and how many, if the connection wasn't established?
This time though, I only saw the update icon and the message stating "XXX updates available" which clearly means that the connection was activated (I use LAN); yet, the wold view was on "America" - New York or such, instead of Europe/Bucharest which is the right setting from TZ.
Further more:
Assuming the connection was off, the "Update" icon, has to be grayed. Mine, was blue and clickable, while a disabled icon renders no result if clicked.

Comment, I guess is the answer. I cannot add anything else, since it was pointless to update before installing. I only saw that there are lots of updates since the initial release. Given the fact that there are tons of improvements since the 7.8, I expected that, but beyond this info I cannot say anything else, let alone say something about any eventual bug, if any at all.

I can't figure out what happened (three times?). I then started the installer from the menu option. Didn't seem to take (too) long. Might be a time lag between the Click event and the execution of startup window? Maybe due to the graphic card?
it is difficult to figure out because generally speaking, the installer seems to be faster than any previous one.
Even the live OS seemed to load faster than the others.
On the other hand, I never experienced delays after clicking "Install Now". I found it weird.
And as I said previously, this release is faster than any previous, including on the Live OS side.

I remembered also another minor glitch:
At some point of the installation, the routine changes the resolution from 800x600 (I guess) to 1920x1080.
The next instuction is supposed to be some kind of
Animation.Center
If the procedure .Center managed to grab the new settings, the animation should move to the new center of the screen. Instead, it moves up and left. The size is OK (that means the .Resize procedure took place), but the center is the old one (ScreenX, ScreenY); it should have been updated from 800 x 600 to 1920 x 1080 (in my case).

If were you, I would read the Announcement top to bottom, don't skip anything, you may find answers there already. I'll look at your reports towards the end of the week since there doesn't appear to be any urgent 'show stopping' bugs there. Thank you.

You could also post all the specs of your test pc from About Lite, Copy all to clipboard (bottom right of the window).

It so happens that i have thousands of installations of many Linux distros and it also happens that I never take as "granted" anything. I read the announcements and there is nothing there about the error regarding the "Manual Partitioning" or the missing option to use the EFI partition.
As for the rest of the glitches, I don't care.
And since I can't install the OS, whatever other issues might be, they are totally irrelevant.
As long as the Installer itself is broken, there are several options I still have. One of them is wait for LL 8.2 (or the next, or next-next...) and many more others.


Bottom line: How do I choose /dev/sda1 for bootloader, if there is no such option on the partitioning screen?

Works for me, the Welcome display closes and Linux Lite Installer runs but I think you have also found this ?

Calamares is new to me, but I've been through several installation sequences using it.
I understand calamares can be set to use geo location by IP, but there are some privacy concerns,  I don't know if the Linux Lite implementation of calamares uses the geo-ip module.  From my experience it doesn't seem to.

New York is the default location.  There is no explicit instruction to select your location - I have always found it necessary to choose even if the system is connected. Either click on the map or click in 'Region' and select 'Europe', and then click the 'Zone' box to choose 'Bucharest'.

Animation size change.
Not noticed this, but main screen on my test machine has limited resolution.  I'll try on a machine with a better display.
