Series 8 development News thread
#1
Will just bullet point each bit of news.

- New ISO size should be around 2.6gb This is between 200MB - 800MB smaller then most of the Top 10 Distrowatch distributions.
- New theme (and possibly icon set) to be announced. Using GTK4 where possible, including Lite apps.
- Memory usage is around 800mb in a VM, will be a lot less on real hardware.
- Firefox (via PPA) will replace Chrome. I believe that having Chrome in Series 7x has hurt us going from what I have read online.
- Btop will replace Htop.

Howzit Jerry?

I was messing around with MiniOS the other day (Standard Ed.) and I gotta say they've done some nice work customizing the Xfce frontend.  You might want to check it out if you haven't before.  Installing it on the local drive isn't as straightforward as it should be IMHO but it's got some good points too.  I think they kept the ISO size down by not including a lot of themes / icon sets and wallpapers.

It's based on Debian.
