Linux Lite Driver Manager
#1

One very common problem that still exists in the Linux world, is giving users a full proof way of installing the correct drivers, be it wireless, video or other.

This thread is designed to explore the possibility of releasing in 3.8 an application that:

- Detects the users hardware.
- Displays only the correct driver/s to install.

With current drivers management software, a list is shown to the user. With a first time linux user, this is daunting.

@ralphy thoughts?

I have no clue how to accomplish something like that. For once, we need to be able to query a database with hardware drivers or a place where to pull them from. To me, if the upstream hasn't done it any better is because the current is as good as it gets  :-[

Unless you know something you ain't sharing with me.  ;D

Sorry for seeming stupid and preferring Linux - I just don't know any better.
