FTP application suggestion
#1

Hi Jerry,

Can we add an FTP/SFTP client to Lite Software, eg. Filezilla; I noticed there is none.

Code:
ralphy@linuxlite:~$ apt search filezilla
Sorting... Done
Full Text Search... Done
filezilla/xenial 3.15.0.2-1ubuntu1 amd64
  Full-featured graphical FTP/FTPS/SFTP client

I'm not sure a good portion of our target audience need an ftp client. I use one myself, but I feel I'm in the minority.

Let's add it. We use the icons from the Faenza dir where possible.

Nice Ralphy. Question - what steps do you go through when you test your commits? Do you build your own deb packages and test that way?

You're welcome mate.

Currently, this is how I test my commits

1- I do development on bare hardware
2- Run code (app) replacing current code (app) in x64 VM and test added and current functionality to make sure there are no conflicts.
3- Run code (app) replacing current code (app) in x32 VM and test added and current functionality to make sure there are no conflicts.

Doing #2 and #3 is how I actually decide to use an integer in lite-updatesnotify, for example. It was giving us rubbish output in terminal because we were comparing a phrase (words =~) instead of comparing integers.

When everything checks out, I commit to master.

4- I only create deb packages for testing when there is a change in structure and in postinst, which is usually what requires packaging tests. If the code that I produced did not add or remove anything from master structure other than functions, I do not package the app for testing because it is unnecessary for me at that point to do so. It MUST run and execute as expected in both x64 and x32 VMs though.

:) Good to know.

By the way, I have a post to announce it once the Filezilla addition is pushed out.
