Very new at this...
#1
Hi, my name is Lynne and this is my very first time at joining any sort of forum at all. Linux Lite has persuaded me.  Smile

I live in Australia and am an older lady.

I have been using Ubuntu (mostly) and Kubuntu (some of the time) and Linux Mint (tried it for awhile) over the past few years and now have just installed the latest Linux Lite version. I am not an expert but I do know a little to get me around the distro. During yesterday when I installed it, I did call in here to find a couple of answers and now here I am ... all new and shiny and saying "Hi".

Thanks for joining the forum.  I think you'll find this distro very stable, and for your hardware, maybe even snappier than your previous choices.  You'll also find this to be an active, friendly, and knowledgeable forum.  Those things and the documentation (ie. the Help Manual) drew me in.

Welcome Lynne, to get your GPU for your Forum profile, open a terminal and do:

Code:
inxi -G

this will give you the 'Card' name and model Smile

Thanks torreydale. Yes, I do find LL very stable and a darn sight "snappier" than my previous choices. I was just thinking that I've been around computers with windoze since 3.1, but version 8 did me when I couldn't access my pc until I updated to 8.1. Yikes! Seems so very long ago now and since then it's been some derivative of Ubuntu for me.

I do enjoy this distro and installed it yesterday on my hubby's laptop too. Now he's a happy chappy!

Off to look around the forum to see what else is here.

Thanks Jerry.  Much appreciated. Now all I have to do is decipher it to put into that "GPU" slot. Smile
