Now that we have talked about unrelated things under this thread, and before we go back into liteupdatenotify... I have two things for you:

1- Here is a lite-manual images folder download:

https://unlockforus.com/downloads/images.zip

All images have been optimized without quality loss. Some images were reduced 50% in size while other where just about 1-2%. Irrespective, they are all optimized which can be good for the online help as well as for the size of the package itself.

2- Before proceeding with liteupdatenotify we need to rename it properly. What I mean by that is that I see "liteupdatenotify" in the application but GH has it as liteupdatesnotify. Small name differences may not be such a big deal but it does make it harder for my workflow. I'd appreciate it if we keep these names consistent across the board.

See:

GH: liteupdatesnotify
/usr/bin/lite-updatenotify
/usr/share/liteupdatenotify/

Could you mention which one of the three to use and then go with just that one convention name afterwards?  I'm inclined to go with lite-updatesnotify or lite-updatenotify.

1 - Thank you I'll take a look. I've been using an online optimizer to reduce image size. The trick here is to make the image look like the original, whilst reducing size. https://tinypng.com/ I used optipng, but couldn't find a setting I was comfortable with.

2 - lite-updatesnotify is what we will use. For future reference, all lite applications in /usr/bin start with lite-

All current lite apps in GH have been updated with a DEBIAN folder and a blank control file to get us started.

I did read you PM, with great pleasure I must add. I somehow had a matching feeling about what you expressed and your work in Linux Lite. It was rude of me not to reply right away but I wanted to take some time to have a former response. I will respond to that PM later this week so that you have a clear idea of my intensions. (not sure this is the best place to post about it as I believe others can read this Dev section.)

Do take a look at them. I think they are greatly optimized and the quality is rather acceptable.

Then I propose that we rename ALL our repos and apps accordingly (one at the time to make sure we don't break them in the process). For example, I will start with liteupdatesnotify at GH. I will rename it to lite-updatesnotify and adjust the code in it to reflect these changes. Then I will add the postinst and prerm files to it as well. We can use this one repo as a base test for our future workflow.

We MUST be careful renaming other apps since they may break and we don't want that. During their updates we can work them out with the postinst file to remove previous versions and reinstall new ones, removing leftover files. We will agree on which one to do and test it before we release them, obviously.

Is that something you are fine with?
