Just installed Dutch, and got this, didn't do anything special....

i was refering to the explanations (beschrijving) in synaptic some of them in there are in english, others are in dutch. See attached screenshot below. Click the screenshot for a larger version

It is probably correct that the repositories are a problem. The support in Debian stable is complete for basic desktop. You may have to find the correct versions for certain packages in linux lite, however, and you may have to force those versions with synaptic to install them. Libreoffice is probably a case like that. Ubuntu repository versions can be tricky and depending where you look appear to be correct when they are not correct for Unbuntu based distros, only for the Unbuntu distro itself. Updated or higher numbered packages may not be the correct ones. I use lots of older dated Debian applications in linux lite, sometimes forcing versions in synaptic. Still some packages themselves may not have Dutch support. Good luck. Ubuntu is not Debian itself, though Debian based. Simply put, Ubuntu is modified Debian, and Linux Lite is modified Ubuntu.

If a program is written in a certain language, say English and nobody translates it into any other languages, it's description will remain in English.?
If it gets translated into other languages, say French, German and Dutch, if your locale is one of those, it will show it correctly for one of those, if not it will be shown in English
Is that why some are English, No translation done, and some Dutch translations have been done.?

Maybe for some programs. But in my example, Synaptic IS fully translated into my native language. But still i get a mixture of English and Dutch in the menu bar/buttons of Synaptic. I set my native language as a system-wide language, removed all English language packages but still a mixture between English and Dutch. Also i stated, that this is NOT an issue with other *buntu-based distro's like Xubuntu and Linux Mint. So my best guess herfe is that some required language packages cannot be found in the repository list used by LL (missing repo's?).

I'll add this page to this discussion (https://www.debian.org/security/) only because repositories can be confusing for new windows converts, and other packages in cutting edge OS Ubuntu can easily ruin a Linux Lite installation if installed from the terminal. Adding repos to synaptic in future releases of your wonderful distro is a can of worms for ordinary windows users. So called "security" updates, which are really just system hardening changes must preferably be available from an in house mirror and be distro specific if you intend to use an automatic updater in the future. Microsoft provided its ordinary users with no choices, other than to refuse downloaded updates. Automatically providing too many choices could become a problem to new windows converts defeating the purpose of your clean light easily understood trusty based distro. Leaving certain repos out of synaptic is not harmful. Questions can be answered and repos added afterwards from a point of correct understanding and praxis. I like this distro so much, I consider it almost a public service.

@trinidad, we have always carried that range of repositories. The 2.x series experienced no problems, in fact, it enhanced software. I do appreciate and understand your points though. Cheers
