Ah, I see. I have been one of those distro hoppers you mention, Serban. After trying around 20 or so distros, I have not found one better than Linux Lite. they almost need to change the name, it doesn't behave like a "light" system at all, except that old hardware does run very well on it (which is great for my 11 year old desktop). It seems put together more solidly than others. Very stable and reliable. Perhaps tightly coded? but that's beyond my expertise.
As for Ubuntu, we must give respect where it is due. It has been the most important Linux distro ever, both in its own sake, as well of course for the many excellent distros it has spawned. and their forum is worth frequenting daily for the accumulated wisdom there. I have found answers there to problems that I just couldn't find anywhere else. I lost interest after 16.04, when they left Unity and went to Gnome 3. I guess they caved to the many users who detested Unity. I thought it was pretty cool, actually.
