The text boot will usually occur because proprietary video drivers have been installed, so this is a little strange.

Try:

Code:

sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth

and select liteboot. Then do:

Code:

sudo update-initramfs -u

Then see if it gives you the feather boot splash.
