Need Help Installing

However, since Windows XP is outdated. I'd like to use Linux Lite.

It's old enough gear to be without UEFI or GPT stuff in it I would assume. But I have been mistaken before because of what a OP will leave out of a thread.

Here is a picture of my old Vista partition layout for kefir81 to check out. Mine is kinda special though as I have souped up the hardware on this old Single core vista Acer Aspire AST 180 Desktop machine. Windows is long gone by the way. It is just a Linux Lite box.



This was a wiped drive and a virgin install. After setting up your partitions <hint: pick the install to whole drive option and only run linux-lite in the installer>
Install grub to mbr. Not root file system. You'll be just fine and dandy.

I have posted my former Windows XP , now Linux-Lite 3 netbook screenshot. It has a single intel-atom N270 CPU and 1 gig of ram. LL-3 installed just fine and dandy on it. So that is a pretty low machine spec install.
