Need Help Installing - kefir81 - 01-08-2017 Please help me, I'm a newbie. Upon trying to install the software. I'm able to select the language, presented two options to select updating and installing third party, but the third process I receive an Install crashed message that follows (no drive appears either): We're sorry; the installer crashed. After you close this window, we'll allow you to file a bug report using the integrated bug reporting tool. This will gather information about your system and your installation process. The details will be sent to our bug tracker and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible. Have you checked the install image? There is an option to do so on the boot menu. If OK I think the menu will re-appear after a while. If not, I presume you will get an error message. Also, is your hard drive good? Rather than going straight to Install, check it using (start menu)/Settings/Disks. The menu at the top (three dashes) leads you to "SMART date and self tests" which should show near the top something like "Overall assessment: Disk is OK". Hope that helps. Re: Need Help Installing - kefir81 - 01-12-2017 @ Richard B, Thanks for your response. However, overall I don't think I totally follow your suggestions and questions. I'm not familiar with the "install image". Within the BIOS settings I changed to boot from the DVD that has the Linux Lite on it. Booting from the regular hard drive, I would assume is good although it's Windows XP. However, since Windows XP is outdated. I'd like to use Linux Lite. Once it boots from the dvd, I have four desktop icons: Linux Lite 3.2, Floppy Disk, Install Linux Lite, and Menu. Oh, and a "Welcome To Linux Lite" screen with various options displays too. I figured that I'd like for Linux Lite to be a permanent operating system bypassing the need to boot from this DVD each time. So, I thought the next step would be to "Install Linux Lite" , but unsuccessful. Perhaps I missed some steps... Re: Need Help Installing - rokytnji - 01-12-2017 https://www.linuxliteos.com/manual/ md5 sum how to video. Md5sum check the Linix Lite iso before trying to install. The Help manual link and the md5 link check using Windows XP should be enough to get you started. Re: Need Help Installing - kefir81 - 01-12-2017 @ (01-12-2017, 02:13 PM)rokytnji link Wrote: https://www.linuxliteos.com/manual/ Thanks, will this also work for linux-lite-3.2-32bit.iso because I don't think I downloaded unbuntu? Re: Need Help Installing - torreydale - 01-12-2017 The MD5 checksum method should work with any *.iso (ie. image file) whether Ubuntu, Linux Lite, or otherwise. Re: Need Help Installing - kefir81 - 01-12-2017 Thanks torreysale. I believe I've followed the tutorial as best as I could given that those websites have changed. However after downloading the md5..., where do I get or how to I create the hash for linux-lite-3.2-32bit.iso ? Re: Need Help Installing - kefir81 - 01-13-2017 Sorry, I think I found it: 12d43af6f746cf5ade8f1408da5f84c8 . I will test now to see. Re: Need Help Installing - kefir81 - 01-13-2017 Well, it says that it matches. So, what shall my next steps be? Re: Need Help Installing - rokytnji - 01-13-2017 When it matches. That means you got a good download and your iso is not corrupted. Which means that is one step that eliminates a source for problems. You can now move over to the help manual and burn Dvd or install to usb . Your choice. Using the help manual as you go. There are set of installation instructions in that link I gave. |
