I notice in your profile you list LL3.2 64bit; is this the same version you're installing?
Is the system a 64bit PC (even if 32bit you should be able to boot to USB) brings me to the next..
Is the system a UEFI or BIOS boot? If UEFI; look to disable SecureBoot and/or enable Legacy support.
Perhaps in addition to what Jerry mentioned posting the model of laptop...
