Hi there - I love Linux Lite... and want to replace my current linux distro with Linux Lite.

I copied the ISO to a USB Drive, but my laptop will no longer boot from a USB (even when I make USB priority in BIOS, it won't boot...  it boots in my other laptop, just not the one I want to install on, grrr)

All the files are available on the USB and are viewable in my current linux distro.

Is there a way to install Linux Lite from the Terminal?

If so, what is the code?

This may help. Here's a link to the online Linux Lite Help Manual, install section:

In the install section see the topic - "No USB Boot option in the Bios?"

From there you will see a link that will give you information about the Plop Boot Manger. Here's the link if you can't find it in the Help Manual.

Unfortunately, the laptop I want to install onto doesn't have a floppy drive or cd/dvd drive.

I can mount the usb drive... is there a way to install using commands in the terminal?

I've never done a terminal install so I can't say if it's possible but out of curiosity I googled the phrase "install linux from hard drive" and it seemed to return some promising results.

How did you put Linux Lite onto the USB in the first place? Can you take a photo of your BIOS USB boot options please.

I notice in your profile you list LL3.2 64bit; is this the same version you're installing?
Is the system a 64bit PC (even if 32bit you should be able to boot to USB) brings me to the next..
Is the system a UEFI or BIOS boot? If UEFI; look to disable SecureBoot and/or enable Legacy support.

Perhaps in addition to what Jerry mentioned posting the model of laptop...

Does it have a sd card slot? Have you considered seeing if you could boot from that instead of usb?

My Dell XT2 Touchscreen installed Linux Lite that way instead of from a usb drive.

If you just copied ISO to USB, it wouldn't work.
You need to make a bootable USB.
