Hi from an old guy
#1
As an older person I sometimes struggle with new technology having been educated with slide rule etc. With this in mind I hope to elicit some help with a slight (I hope) problem with the auto update software function post installation. When it asks for my password, I type but nothing happens, the cursor blinks but no characters appear on the screen. If I try to type my password and hit return it says error. I did read a thread about this but being Terminalphobic I didnt get it! Anyways thanks and hi all.

Thats a security feature in linux in general. It looks as though nothing is happening when you type, but your keystrokes are being read I can assure you. Type in your password and press Enter, it will work Smile

Amazingly I found a workaround!!!! From the 'install additional software' function and selecting item (25) Install updates, initially this looked to be the same problem nothing happening at the cursor but I right clicked the blinking cursor which highlighted the whole line, I typed in my password (which didn't show on screen) hit return and it started updating. Now all I have to do is find out why my Steam isn't working.

OK seems I was a bit hasty, thank you sir for putting me right. Maybe my steam will work now that I am updating the software.
