"Your system is up to date" is the message I have been getting for 45 days now. Any ideas on why no updates?
Thanks.
Thanks.

'Up to date' because updates have stopped because Linux Lite 5.8 (and the underlying Ubuntu) are both past the published end of support dates.
See the Roadmap at this link https://www.linuxliteos.com/download.php

Hi,
I've had this same issue ( I have 5.8 and it has stopped updating), and I tried to look at the page linked above referenced as "Roadmap" and frankly I don't understand! How do I update to the newer versions--I've always just followed the recommended updates as notified by the software and don't know what steps I would take to start getting updates again or if I am supposed to reinstall or install new software how I was supposed to know? I must be missing something that I should have been doing because this is really unclear to me! Does anyone have any advice for me or direct me to "how to move away from version 5.8 for dummies"? or something? Or is there some newsletter or update page I was supposed to be following? Or is just the fact that my regular updates stopped was supposed to be the way to find out? But I entirely missed version 6 so I am so behind! Someone please help me

Quote:I tried to look at the page linked above referenced as "Roadmap" and frankly I don't understand! The Roadmap is where the Life Cycle for each Linux Lite Release is published. It shows the release and 'end of support' dates fairly clearly, but is probably not somewhere a typical user would visit. Quote:How do I update to the newer versions--I've always just followed the recommended updates as notified by the software and don't know what steps I would take to start getting updates again or if I am supposed to reinstall or install new software how I was supposed to know?Using the Lite update and upgrade notifications will keep the system applications and software packages updated and has been the right thing to do. You have gone as far as is possible with Linux Lite 5.8 and won't get further significant updates. To stay current, you will need to change to a supported release (either 6.x or 7.x at the time of writing) Currently, Lite does not have a series to series upgrade mechanism that would allow you to go from say 5.8 to 6.x or 7.x with a single click, so a fresh install of 6.x or 7.x will be necessary. Quote:I must be missing something that I should have been doing because this is really unclear to me!Notification of impending end of support to typical users is an area which could be improved. The developer does read these threads. Quote:Does anyone have any advice for me or direct me to "how to move away from version 5.8 for dummies"? or something? But I entirely missed version 6 so I am so behind! Someone please help meAt some point you must have installed Linux Lite 5.x. Installing either 6.x or 7.x will be a similar process. Linux generally requires less resources, but if your hardware is old (pre W7) it may not be powerful enough to run a modern operating system (OS) effectively. The official Install guide begins at https://wiki.linuxliteos.com/en/install It is very hard to write a 'for dummies' guide as there are so many variables and the whole scenario can appear daunting. In general the approach is to On the current system, work out what is important and personal to you and back up. I'm sure you are doing this already but it is particularly important when changing OS. Download either 7.6 or 6.6 and make a 'Live' version - a bootable USB stick or DVD. Boot your system using the Live media and test thoroughly If the tests are satisfactory you can think about installing. If you have any questions or require guidance raise a new thread in the Installing Linux Lite section. You should be able to get individual advice.
