Nvidia GTX-760...which driver?
#1
The proprietary option in Driver Manager is 331.113.
Nvidia says the latest driver for linux is 346.59 or 346.72.

I prefer 346.59.

Is there an easy way to upgrade to 346.59?

Thanks!

Is there something in the 346.59 driver your card requires? It is always best to stick with the recommended driver. Upgrading for the sake of having 'the latest' of something can lead to severe issues. Ubuntu will push 346.59 into service once it's been cleared to work properly.

I'm having problems with some Steam games and thought it might help to try a later driver.
I found this:
http://linuxg.net/how-to-install-nvidia-...x-systems/

But after I run:  sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm stop
the screen goes black to a flashing cursor and I am unable to execute the final command.
When I reboot I am back to the default driver.

After I stop X, how do I get to run that last command?
Thanks!

I would really advise against this. You're better to identify which Games are causing issues, and seek solutions through Steam Support, there may already exist information for these games.

You are right. I will stick with 331. Everything else is rock solid. Don't want to mess things up just for a few games.

Thanks!

I am singing Linux Lite's praises every chance I get.

Keep up the great work!  Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
