Also, there will be NO PPA's in Series 5.x ootb. They have caused us enough pain.

Just curious, what kind of problems were caused by PPA's? People addind them and forgetting about them? Incompatibilities with other software?

Developers changing keys, repos etc mid-cycle. They need to ditch PPA'S altogether tbh.

Look at all the "update failed" threads in here and observe that in the majority of cases, the failure was due to one PPA or another making some change.  And the prescribed solution in those cases was simply to disable the PPA and update.  It is a great relief that Series 5 will have no PPAs.

We'll still get those type of threads, because we can't stop people from adding their own PPA's, we just won't ship any ourselves.

Yup!  Including me!  I add this one for Systemback (which I prefer to Timeshift), Ubuntuzilla for Seamonkey (which replaces both Firefox and Thunderbird).  Those were my only add-ons.
