The XFCE Weather Applet no longer updates and as a result it is no longer able to fetch data.
Here is the fix:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dtl131/mediahacks
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xfce4-weather-plugin
sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:dtl131/mediahacks

Hello!

Sometimes, XFCE Weather Applet shows 'N/A' for high temps in the forecast, and sometimes, it doesn't. Therefore, I switched over to my-weather-indicator. Unless someone knows of a better alternative, it's the best thing I can find to a good Linux weather app.

After adding the PPA and the program, the first time I tried to run it from the menu. MWI locked up, so I had to execute it in a terminal:

/opt/extras.ubuntu.com/my-weather-indicator/bin/my-weather-indicator

I think this issue is machine-specific.

For the 32-bit version, this is an excellent weather program. I use a Firefox plugin for the 64-bit version because the 64-bit version of MWI display the sunrise/sunset times in UTC, as opposed to local time...

Not sure I did this correctly. Do I put in a line of this code on at a time and hit enter? Where would it appear on desktop or in menu? Thanks.

Remove the other one first: sudo apt-get remove xfce4-weather-plugin

When typing your reply, hit the "#" button on forum interface.  It will insert two code blocks -- [ code ] ... [ /code ] -- into your reply area.  Paste the terminal output between the two code blocks.  That makes it easier for us to read.
